Of Algebra and Literary Effects

Jan. 29th, 2006 | 02:46 pm

Hello, everyone!

This is my first journal entry. Things seem to always be hectic in my life, so I am not surprised that I forgot about the existance of this journal until a dear friend of mine politely but firmly reminded me. Everything is fine and dandy here in Sweden. The weather is surprisingly warm, and it is more wet than it is cold. It does make snow ball fights rather tempting and irresistable for those who still feel a bit childish at heart.
As it is my third and final year of Secondary Upper School and I'm at the very finishing stretch I have little to no time for personal art, as I do not only have school to take care of. I still have commissioned works to be finished and mailed out to their owners. Right now my absolute priority is school, with all the essays and the preparation for the final exams in May. Wish me luck!
As for those projects I have started I can tell you this much; there will be plenty of action. I have decided to run with an idea I got a while ago from looking at a photograph from a zoo. I asked for permission to use said photograph and I received a 'yes' much to my delight. What wasn't as delightful is that the painting was simply too big too finish, since framing alone would have cost overwhelmingly much. I would also have needed a house as tall as a church to fit the painting, which certainly was the biggest I ever started.
What is it of then, you all wonder? Two brown bears fighting in a river. Will I finish the new version? I cannot say. However, since the idea has been with me for a good many months I am unlikely to drop it without a good reason.
A few other paintings are in progress, but unfortunately far from being finished. It looks like I will have very little time to paint in the next few months. Around June or so, my art should blossom again. But such is life, you have to make sacrifices. They will pay off in the end.
